Subway Seater™ could only have been born in New York City.

Designed for Real Life in a Legendary City

New York is iconic, inspiring, unapologetically intense, and very dirty. Five million stories board the subway every day.  Don’t deflate that inspiration by the unknown story that just sat in your seat. Instead, come prepared and change the narrative of urban hygiene.

The story Subway Seater™ begins with two friends from Queens: my best friend Tommy and me. Taking the subway with Tommy was a rare yet infinitely unique experience. Neither of us could live with bare legs touching the seat, but he’d always be the one to lay down a cloth whenever I chose to wear shorts and whenever I’d take that seat on the subway, thus creating a barrier between a public seat and my personal space.

The Subway Seater™ was created for women like me who love this city in all its grimy glory but live stylish, highly independent lives. This isn’t about being precious. It’s about being prepared.

The Subway Seater™ is that barrier. A compact, elegantly layered companion designed to meet the moment—whether on the train, on a plane, at a stadium, or just claiming your place in the world. Each Subway Seater is made from responsibly sourced fabric, designed in New York, and crafted with dignity in mind and the USA.

And because we believe in stories, we’ve included space for you to leave yours. Every Subway Seater will carry a haiku—a poetic memento of city life in 3 lines of 5-7-5 syllables. When Subway Seater launches, we’ll invite you to submit your three lines to share your moment on the move. Remember, there are 8 million stories in New York City, and 5 million take the subway. One just left your seat.
